It seems like I have had the iPhone for years, since day one of the release. I like the interface and the ease of use with my Macbook Pro. However, I like to experiment and use other devices. Hence the hate to love the phone. I find that every time I try another phone whether its a Nokia N95, HTC Tilt, Blackberry or a Helio device, I end up back with the iPhone. I CAN'T TAKE IT!! I want a device that has a web browser and screen like the iPhone with 3G, GPS, and the ability to download directly to the device through cellular or WiFi. Also, a slingbox client would be nice. I had the N95 and the N95-3 and I may purchase it again, but the screen is small and no qwerty input can be aggravating. I guess I needed to rant because I have become frustrated with the deployment of cell phones in the US.
I purchased the Jawbone bluetooth earpiece a couple of days ago. I am extremely pleased with the sound quality especially the noise cancellation, but it's a bit heavy and does not remain solidly in the ear. This can be a problem due to the need for the device to touch your face in order for your voice to be heard. There are several interchangeable inserts, but none work that well for me. I have heard others say that purchasing the Jabra Gel inserts will secure the earpiece. I will give it a try and report back.
The build quality is good, but the charging mechanism is poor. Although the device will charge through standard USB or the USB to wall adapter, the connection to the earpiece does not connect securely. You almost have to place the earpiece a certain way when charging otherwise it will slide slightly and break the charging connection.
Hope this helps anyone looking to purchase the device. I had the Motorola H700, but it would not work properly with the iPhone.
So after much debate and internal turmoil, I have decided to return to the iPhone. It's not like I didn't like the phone in the first place, but AT&T is less than stellar in my condo. However, in addition to my passion for Apple Products, I found that the easy of use and every day functionality of the phone hard to overlook. So I have to stand in certain areas in my place to use the phone and I had to pay an ETF to T-Mobile, which I only had 3 months left on my contract. I guess my addiction to phones got the better of me. I thought by changing to a GSM provider last year would eliminate my need to pay ETF's, but those DAMN exclusivity deals get you every time. Oh well, it's all part of the game....
Today is my last day with the iPhone. Although I loved the phone and the user interface, AT&Ts signal in my house was horrible. I guess there can be worse things than going back to the Nokia N95. I will have to wait until someone figures out how to unlock the iPhone. I would love to use it on T-Mobile.
I am beginning my first day with the iPhone. I activated it late last night with no problems. The entire process took about 3 minutes. As for the phone...it is a bit heavier than I anticipated. I think the glass screen adds quite a bit of weight. The phone has been flawless so far. However, I wish Apple used some type of material on the sides to prevent it from sliding out of your hand. The phone is really slippery. The initial sync was no problem. The interface is intuitive and operates as smoothly as seen on tv.
I just got home with 2 iPhones! Decisions, Decisions... T-Mobile with Nokia N95 or cancellation fee and iPhone with AT&T. I can't take it!!
I am back with the Nokia N95. Hopefully I can hold out from purchasing the iPhone.
Listening to Twit at Starbucks.
Well. I called Letstalk and I am returning my second N95. They are sending a third one. Hopefully, this will correct the issues, but I think that I am being a little optimistic. I love the phone and it has a lot to offer. We shall see...
I was using the Nokia N95, but the audio was horrible. I returned the phone and received another one yesterday. Same problem and now the slider is loose. I can't believe it. $750 for a phone and the build quality and audio are sub par. The features are excellent, but not enough to overlook the problems. I guess I am going to have to wait for the iPhone.
I hope so. Otherwise, I may break down and return to Helio with the Ocean :-) read more
